Story

Love and Dancing is the second collection of 80's new wave tracks that the band has recorded in a ska and reggae style. Instead of releasing all the songs together as an album, the band will be releasing a song and video every other month over 2016 and 2017 with a goal of having 12 songs compiled in the collection by the middle of 2017.

The album is called "Love and Dancing" because the songs the band has recorded so far are all about the ups and downs of love and the joys of dancing. It also pays homage to the Human League who had a side project called The League Unlimited Orchestra and released a remix of their "Dare" album with that title in the early 80's.

The seventh release from the album in April 2017 is a new wave meets reggae version of Blondie's "Atomic" released in 1980 became the band's third number one in the UK Singles Chart, where it held the top spot for two weeks. It also reached the Top 40 in the US in Spring 1980.

Our latest track for Specialized 5 - One Heart compilation to benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK!

Specialized Records's vision is a future where young people’s lives don’t stop because they have cancer. We make sure they’re treated as young people first, cancer patients second and everything we do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival.
Around six young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ We’re the only charity dedicated to making this happen. We bring young people together so they can be treated together, by teenage cancer experts, in the best place for them. We educate young people about cancer and work with health professionals to develop their knowledge so we can improve the speed and quality of diagnosis. And by funding research and working with our partners in the NHS, government and organisations both nationally and internationally, we strive to improve survival rates.

Story

Love and Dancing is the second collection of 80's new wave tracks that the band has recorded in a ska and reggae style. Instead of releasing all the songs together as an album, the band will be releasing a song and video a month over the rest of 2016 with a goal of having all 10 songs compiled in the collection by the end of the year.

The album is called "Love and Dancing" because the songs the band has recorded so far are all about the ups and downs of love and the joys of dancing. It also pays homage to the Human League who had a side project called The League Unlimited Orchestra and released a remix of their "Dare" album with that title in the early 80's.

The first release from the album in April 2016 is a punky ska/new wave version of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" which itself was a cover of the 1960's northern soul classic recorded by Gloria Jones.

The second release from the album in May 2016 is a 2-Tone/reggae version of The Cure's 1985 UK hit "Close To Me" from their studio album "The Head on The Door."

The third release from the album in June 2016 is a bouncy reggae version of Wang Chung's "Dance Hall Days" which was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic in 1984.

Your favorite 80's New Wave songs wrapped in a loving ska and reggae embrace!
NOTES
Truth be told, the twin pillars of 2 Tone ska and 80's new wave music sustained me through much of a challenging youth during the 1980's. 2 Tone revealed harsh economic, social, and racial injustices with a power and a fury that was undeniable, but also danceable. It forever influenced my worldview and moved me to learn an instrument and start a ska band (Bigger Thomas) that I've played in for more than 25 years. Though I tend …

80's New Wave done in Ska/Reggae/Rocksteady versions!
NOTES
Rude Boy George is a NYC-based band that performs ska, rocksteady, and reggae covers of New Wave classics. We’re motivated by our shared love and respect for ska (reflected in the reference to 1960s and 2 Tone rude boys) and the extraordinary amount of good music produced in the late 70s and early 80s New Wave/post-punk era (Boy George). And we want to have some fun doing it. That's Rude Boy George’s agenda …
